Backbites
Privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026. Backbites (backbites.eu) and its browser extension help teams leave feedback on live websites. This page explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and a hashed password.
- Sign-in sessions: a session token, plus the IP address and browser (user agent) of each session. The extension stores its sign-in token locally in your browser.
- Feedback you submit: your comments and replies, and, for each capture, the page URL, a screenshot of the visible part of the page, the selected element (its CSS selector, a short piece of its text and an excerpt of its HTML), and the viewport size and browser.
- Workspace data: projects, members, invitations and the email addresses invited to a workspace.
The extension reads a page only after you open Backbites on it and start giving feedback. It does not record your browsing, track your activity in the background or read pages you haven’t chosen to comment on.
How we use it
Only to run Backbites: to sign you in, to show your team the feedback you leave, to let the agents and members of your workspace read it, and to send service emails such as invitations and verification codes. We don’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Who can see it
Feedback is visible to the members and agents of the workspace and project it was left in. We share data with the following service providers, only so they can provide their service to us:
- Hetzner (server hosting)
- Resend (sending email)
- Sentry (error monitoring)
- Google Fonts (typefaces loaded by the website)
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account or workspace exists. You can delete your account, or your whole workspace, from your profile and account settings, which removes the associated data. You can also remove the extension at any time, which clears what it stored in your browser.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it. Write to us at the address below.
